on cloud nine

Today my mom and I went to see Charlie St. Cloud. The movie theater was freezing, but that's besides the point. I was expecting to cry tons seeing as I cry during pretty much every movie I watch. However, I didn't cry too much which means that the average person would probably only cry mildly once, or not at all. The movie was pretty good - it was entertaining enough and worth making a trip to see, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I laughed and I cried, and I also guessed the little twist in the plot. But none of that really mattered because Zac Efron is so cute! I guess I just never realized how cute he really is because I haven't seen many of the things he's been in.
So overall the movie was worth seeing, and Zac Efron is adorable. Oh! And I love the movie's tagline, "life is for living." You only live once! Make it count!

china glaze daze

OMG. I love China Glaze OMG. I'm an OPI girl through and through, but this polish makes me love China Glaze. Oh, and For Audrey. A great Tiffany blue polish.

China Glaze OMG

China Glaze For Audrey

These pictures don't do either of the polishes justice. They look amazing on the nail, but since I don't own either one (yet!) I can't show you just how beautiful they are! You'll have to search them on Google yourself, there are some good pictures. I just didn't want to steal someone's photo of their hand and put it on my blog. A tad creepy. You'll just have to trust me - they're gorgeous!

all that glitters is gold

Recently, my Incase cover for my iPhone was ruined :( It got dirty and even though I tried multiple ways to clean it, it still looked like it had black fingerprints all over it. I called the company and they said that it was common for the kind of case I had (the Fluro Slider Case in Fluorescent Pink) and that they would send me a new case! I was excited, but a little sad when the woman told me to not get the same case because it would just get dirty again. I was a little disappointed because I really loved my pink case, but figured I would be able to find a different cover that I loved as much as my hot pink one. I did.

Incase Metallic Slider Case in Gold - $34.95

Oh I just love it! I'm so excited for it to get here! It's a shimmery gold not a shiny gold so it won't show traces of fingerprints or look too plastic-y. I hope I love it as much in person as I do now!

it's almost august!

...and you know what that means! The OPI Swiss Collection is coming soon! Starting August 1st the collection will be available, and I'm excited! Many of the colors look promising including a color called Glitzerland. Sounds like my kind of place.

I'm Suzi & I'm a Chocoholic - From A to Z-urich - Color So Hot it Berns

Just a Little Rosti at This - William Tell Me About OPI - Ski Teal We Drop

Diva of Geneva - Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous - Glitzerland

Yodel Me on My Cell - The Color to Watch - Cucoo for This Color

It's always hard to tell from these photos what exactly the colors look like, but I'm excited to find out! I tend to not be a fan of the shimmery polishes, and it looks like a few of my favorite colors (including Cucoo for This Color) are shimmery. However, the shimmery Glitzerland and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous both look gorgeous! I guess I'll just have to wait and see which colors end up being my favorites from the Swiss Collection!

lady luck

How lucky can one girl be?
After I showed my sister my new (and very on sale) jeans that I found at Marshalls, she wanted to take a look to see if she could find a great deal of her own. While I was with her, I found a Kensie dress on clearance. I was so happy that it fit and even happier that it was only $10! The style is old, but I still think the dress is cute and the price was right!

Kensie Dress - $148 (on sale for $10)

The dress is silk and has a tie belt embellished with studs. Even though it's a bit old, it fits well and the material is nice so it hangs well. Another blue steal! I feel so lucky!
And speaking of luck..

This is the hand I was dealt while playing cards the other day. A royal flush! Too bad I wasn't playing poker... I still thought it was pretty cool!

in full bloom

My mom found a Martha Stewart craft kit and thought it would be fun for us to try. The kit came with materials to make paper flowers, and it was fun! I think the flowers turned out pretty well! The directions weren't that clear, but we seemed to figure everything out with a little trial and error. My favorite flowers were the ones with the white ball in the middle (as seen in the third picture). That style was the easiest to make, but they were all fairly easy and quick to make! I'll now keep my eye out for more Martha kits because this one was a success!

blue steal

Getting new jeans is such a fun thing for me. Getting new jeans on sale? Even more fun. Today I ran to Marshalls with my mom because we were bored, and they had a pretty nice selection of discounted jeans. From Paige to Sevens, I was impressed by what they had. My eye was drawn to an adorable pair of J Brand Cigarette Leg jeans. I grabbed them and was excited about my find seeing as jeans at Marshalls are normally half price. But the jeans were more than half off. A lot more. They were - wait for it - $17. You read that right. Seventeen dollars. That's 89% off! Now I was really excited. These jeans had no apparent problems and they weren't even a past style! They're currently on the J Brand website. I have no idea why they were at Marshalls, but believe me, they're not there anymore. They are happy in my closet!

J Brand 914 Low-Rise Cigarette Leg in Ink - $158
(or $17 if you're lucky like me!)

Oh how I love a deal. I also love Zoolander's signature look, Blue Steel, the inspiration for my title today :) I think I'll have to watch that movie soon. It will put me in an even better mood!

pretty in pink

I want one! I've wanted a KitchenAid standing mixer since I first saw them years ago in a cooking store with my mom. I don't know why I wanted one back then seeing as I didn't cook, but I'm pretty sure it was because they were clean and pretty. Anyway, now that I would actually use one, I want the pink version! It's still not practical at all since I live in my sorority house and we're not allowed to use the kitchen. But still! Eventually, I will get one.

The KitchenAid Artisan mixer sells for $350 on their website, but Target has it for $300. With every purchase of this adorable mixer, KitchenAid will donate $50 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. You'd benefit more than just yourself with this buy!

summer lovin'

I went on a little vacation this weekend to San Luis Obispo and had a lot of fun with my girlfriends! Of course we spent some time on the beach, which made me realize how badly I needed a new bathing suit (or 3). I was looking at various sites and realized I tend to really like ruffles!

First is Vix Malibu Ruffle Bandeau and Ripple Thick Tie Side - $150
Second is Victoria's Secret Balconet Top and Cheeky Bottom - $40 on sale for $28.50
Third is Juicy Couture Pucker Ruffle Bikini - $156 on sale for $132

I love that the ruffles make the suits feminine, flirty, and fun. I would love any one of these to soak up the sun in! So many suits I looked at were on sale now that it's July, which motivates me even more to pick one up!

a great color

I looked through and tried multiple OPI colors to find the right neutral, brown, taupe, nude, gray color. In my search, I've found a few that I love! I have the OPI, the Chanel is gorgeous, my friend has the Essie and I love it, and the e.l.f. color (in June Vogue) is now on it's way to me!

OPI Tickle My France-y - $8.50
Chanel Particuliere - $23
Essie Jazz - $8
e.l.f. Smoky Brown - $1

This color really is great, and I'm seeing more and more shades like it. I hope the Smokey Brown lasts well on my nails, and I'm thinking the beautiful Chanel might be added to my collection next!

90210

I was so busy this past year that I really didn't have much time for tv. I did keep up on a few of my favorite shows, but I lost track of some other ones. Now that I have lots of free time, I've been catching up on some shows! I just finished watching the second season of 90210, and they really do wear some great clothes! One character, Naomi, has great style and I love some of the looks she's had throughout the show! One of my favorites was a gorgeous Herve Leger dress. The dress looked amazing on her, and I love it! It's a little old now as I'm a little late catching up on the show, but still fabulous.

Herve Leger Cyrille Ombre Dress - $1,590

The dress was $1,590, but on many websites it was on sale because it's a bit old now. If you can find it somewhere, I'm sure it would be cheaper! Anyway, fashion like that is one of the reasons why I watch 90210 and other shows. The clothes make it that much more fun to watch!

bananas for bananas

Although my Louboutin collection is currently nonexistent, I can't help but go gaga over these gorgeous shoes! I could do post after post of Louboutins I love - and I might - but for starters I thought I'd share one of my favorites: the Banana. These shoes are to die for. They're from the Spring/Summer collection from this year, and with the Fall collection now available at Neiman's, who knows how much longer they'll be around. Anyway, the shoes.

Christian Louboutin Banana in Lavender

I love them in every color, especially the lavender, coral, nude, and of course black. The coral and lavender would provide the perfect pop of color, and you can never deny a great nude or black pump. I personally love super high pumps with a peep toe, so these are just perfect for me! But of course Louboutin makes every height and style of shoe you could ever want, and trust me - you'll definitely want.
I've been looking for a perfect nude pump to buy for myself for about a year now, and haven't quite found one. Well I have, some amazing Louboutins in fact, but I'm looking for something a little less expensive. I'm thinking of doing a post all about nude pumps soon. Maybe that will help push me to buy myself a pair!

cheap and cheaper

Yesterday I ran to a few stores with my sister, and I found tons of great (and cheap!) stuff in Forever 21! I was impressed with the variety of styles they had that were so inexpensive! Granted, the clothes aren't the best quality, but you get what you pay for. Also, even though the clothes may not last long, neither do the styles, so the store is a great way to get the look for less. That way when the trends pass, you aren't sad about all the money you dropped on the style! Anyway, one of the things I grabbed yesterday was a tight dress that reminded me of a Free People one I got earlier this summer. That gave me the idea to do a "get the look for less" post, and that is what this is. However, the Free People dress was also a steal in my opinion - hence the post title.

On the left is Free People - $58
And on the right is Forever 21 - $11.50
(yeah that's right, $11.50!!)

The material and overall fit of the Free People dress is, as you probably guessed, much better than the Forever 21 look-alike. However, the Forever 21 dress does look good, and for $12 you can't really pass it by. I ended up getting the Forever 21 dress in the blue, but both were cute!
I like this idea for a post, so you'll probably be seeing more like it!

birthday cupcakes

This year for my birthday I made a quick batch of cupcakes instead of the usual birthday cake. A friend had given me these adorable pink cupcake liners with crowns because she called me the cupcake queen after I made 200 cupcakes for a sorority event. They were SO cute and I just had to use them for my birthday! Unfortunately, they weren't greaseproof, so you can't see them that well in the picture, but I promise they were adorable :)

The cake was a simple white cake from a box (no time for experimenting :( I will again soon!) with a light strawberry whipped frosting that ended up being delicious, and a great shade of pink! Hopefully I'll be able to bake again for something soon! I did make some 4th of July cake balls for a BBQ that were a classic red velvet with cream cheese frosting, dipped in white chocolate, and topped with blue colored white chocolate streaks and little American flags on toothpicks! I forgot to take pictures, and I'm sad because some came out really cute! It's okay though, I'll find some reason to experiment soon!

white hot

While I was looking through shopbop for dresses to put in my July 4th post, I found so many white dresses that I loved. I thought I would show a few of my favorites!

First is BB Dakota - $90
Second is Vix - $155 (on sale for $108!)
Third is Tibi - $475

I always love that lace-like look like the BB Dakota in a white dress (or any color dress for that matter..) because it's so classic and cute! The Vix dress stood out to me because it was sweet and simple and I thought the back was adorable. And how about that killer one-shouldered Tibi?! I just love that one, and it also comes in navy. I love white dresses - they're so summery and fun, and they always make you look tan!

panda-monium pink

Well I said that I loved nail polish, and I wasn't kidding! I've recently taken an interest in collecting some of the beautiful OPI colors. There are so many gorgeous and unique shades! They're a fun thing to collect because there are so many and they're a lot less expensive than Louboutins :)
I thought I would go through and document some of the colors I have as I paint my nails (which is probably too often) so the colors can be seen in a different light. Sometimes on the OPI website the colors appear darker or lighter than it turns out on your nails. I always look up the color on someone's nails or try it on in person before I order it.
With that said, here's one of the colors I got for my birthday - Panda-monium Pink!

The color is definitely more of a pale purple than a pale pink. Even though I thought these pictures would help show the true color, this isn't quite it. It's definitely a pastel, and I say it is a pinky-purple, but definitely a purple. Next time I wear it, I'll make sure I'm a bit darker - I think it will look great with a tan!

red white & blue

Happy 4th of July!
In honor of the holiday, I thought I'd pick out a few great finds off of shopbop in red, white, and blue! I really love white dresses, so it was hard to pick just one! I'm thinking of doing a feature on some of the great white dresses I've seen this summer. Anyway, on with the shopbop finds!

The red is Rebecca Taylor - $325
The white is Geren Ford - $312
The blue is Velvet - $97

I hope everyone enjoys their 4th in red, white, and blue! Happy 234th birthday, America! But don't worry, you don't look a day over 200 :)
