whitney v lauren

I was getting my fix of The City and The Hills, both of which I haven't seen in months, and it got me thinking about Whitney Port's line, Whitney Eve. I had taken a look at Lauren Conrad's line and liked a few pieces, but I wanted to look further into Whitney's line, and see which line I liked more. Both have pieces that I really liked, and ones that I wouldn't wear, but still think would be great on the right person. I think that Lauren's line has more basic pieces that could easily be worked into any wardrobe. But I just loved the look of Whitney's line - it was girly and fun with a little edge. Overall, I think I'll have to go with Whitney Eve as the line I like more, and no, it isn't because she is a Theta too :)
I love this Whitney Eve dress.
I found some great Whitney Eve pieces on RevolveClothing. Also while looking around online, I found a picture of Lauren back in September in one of my favorite looks ever on her. The gorgeous green alice + olivia dress fits her wonderfully, and her look overall is fabulous!

cake balls

Yesterday my best friend helped me make cake balls! It was my first time, but I think they came out pretty well. Last night we baked a basic white cake from a box, and following the recipe from Bakerella, we let it cool, added some rainbow chip frosting (we thought the little candy chips would be a fun surprise inside!) and rolled the mixture into balls. Our batch made about 4 1/2 dozen balls, and then this morning we finished them up! We melted chocolate chips and added some wax to thin the chocolate, then dipped the balls of cake! I finished them off with a drizzle on top! Yum :) I can't wait to try out some variations on this easy recipe!

california girl

This morning I was so excited to see that the Maya Brenner necklace I've been loving for the past few months is going to be on Gilt soon! I don't know how much the necklace will be on Gilt or what availability they'll have, but I know you can also get the necklace on Max&Chloe. They have both silver and gold available, with a diamond (they place it wherever you want in the state - for example, in your city) for $300 and without for $250.
I personally would love the gold with the diamond, but I can't decide if I should put the diamond in Santa Barbara (where I go to school) or Lodi (where I grew up). Hmmm, I'll have to decide before 6 when the sale starts!

a surprise visitor

Today my best friend Kelsey came to surprise me from San Diego! I'm so excited she's here, and we're planning as many fun things as we can! We're both excited to try out a recipe I've been dying to try that I saw on Bakerella. It's for cake balls, and the red velvet version can be found here. We're thinking of trying something plain or maybe lemon dipped in white chocolate. I'll see how they turn out! We're also thinking about going into San Francisco tomorrow to do some shopping and maybe even see Wicked! Whatever we end up doing I know we'll have tons of fun :)

birthday time

Yesterday was my birthday, and I had a great day! The celebrations have been happening all week, and they're continuing on! I got some great gifts last night at dinner with my family, but I'm most excited for the gift I have coming! I got a few new OPI colors (I forgot to mention how much I love OPI nail polish - I'm obsessed) and I love them all! Keep an eye out for an upcoming post solely dedicated to polishes. I got Feelin' Hot Hot Hot and Tickle my France-y from my parents and Panda-Monium Pink from my best friend. Also from my best friend I got an adorable flowered ruffle top to tuck into my high waisted skirts. It's ultra feminine and I love it! She also threw in some of our favorite junk foods - she knows me well! Also from my parents, I go some clothes, much needed running shoes, the Martha Stewart book Cupcakes, and the gift I'm so excited for: a shopping trip in LA! My mom and I will probably go sometime next week or the week after, and hopefully we'll get in lots of shopping and maybe even head to a show (I also forgot to mention that I love musicals. Maybe I should do a new post about me?)! Also look for a post with my presents and purchases from LA because I'm sure to find lots of deals and steals! I can't wait to redo my nails, try out some of Martha's yummy cupcake recipes, and continue celebrating with my friends and family!

kelley likes

I decided that instead of focusing on one thing that I like, I would just do a mix of different things that I'm into. So that's how I got the name of my blog!
To start things off, I figured I'd do a list of 5 things I like, in no particular order, that I'll most likely feature here.
1. cupcakes
2. fashion/shopping/deals (does that count as one?)
3. music
4. weddings
5. nail polish

Even though I will probably focus on these few things the most, be warned that this blog could go anywhere! I have no particular ideas of what I want to feature, and I have a feeling that the blog might turn into focusing on my daily life - which might be incredibly boring.

hello

Hi I'm Kelley. I've never had a blog before, but I thought I'd start one with some different things I like. From fashion to cupcakes, I hope you enjoy.
