swiss collection

That was a pretty long break! Between moving back to Santa Barbara, rush, and school starting, I've been so busy! Hopefully I'll be able to post more consistently!
I've been wanting to talk about the new OPI Swiss Collection since it came out in August, and since tonight I'm painting my nails with a color from it, I thought it was appropriate.

The colors are FABULOUS as you can mostly see from my previous post on the collection. But in person and on the nail, they are even better than expected! I've already talked a bit about two of my absolute favorite colors - Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous and Glitzerland - but now I want to talk about a few colors I'm adding to my wish list! I'm absolutely loving Cuckoo for this Color and Diva of Geneva. I normally am partial to cremes over shimmery polishes, but OPI did an amazing job with this collection! I can't wait to buy them and wear them all year long, and especially around Christmas season. Which reminds me, I'm so excited for the Holiday Collection this year, I just know it's going to be unbelievable!

the best thing I ever ate

A few weeks ago I went to visit a friend in Berkeley. The trip was lots of fun, but the best part about it was the moment when I first tasted the best thing I have ever eaten. My friend told me he had to take me to this little place where he and his friends constantly go to enjoy amazing cheesesteaks and hoagies. I had never had a Philly cheesesteak before, but I'm pretty sure this is one of the best in California. The place was literally a hole in the wall - it was so small and they only had a few tables outside to sit at. But the food was so good (and cheap!) that it didn't matter where I was, I was happy! If you're ever in Berkeley, you have to try I.B.'s because it was fabulous! I'm thinking about recommending it to be featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives!

How could you not want that? The meat was delicious, the veggies were crisp, and the fries were irresistible! Delicious!

cako bakery

Last weekend I went to San Francisco with my parents! We just wanted to have a mini vacation, and we ended up having a fun visit! One of the great things we found was this bakery! I had never been that one, so we decided to try a few cupcakes! The store was very small, but pretty cute and they had a great variety of cupcakes ranging from vanilla to pink champagne to Andes mint! We tried their lemon raspberry, their red velvet, and their mocha.

The lemon raspberry looked so cute and I love lemon sweets so that was my choice! I always love the look of sanding sugar, but not the texture when I'm eating a cupcake. The cake was very dense and moist with a great lemon flavor. In addition to the raspberry garnish on top, the cupcake had raspberry flavor in the cake and in the frosting, but the lemon still took the staring role. You always have to try a bakery's red velvet! It's the test to see how it compares to all the other red velvets out there! This one was extremely moist so the cake was amazing. Their frosting was very tangy, which I loved, but my mom thought it was just too sweet. The mocha was my mom's pick, but it took us some time to decide between that, the Andes mint, and the s'more. The mocha was a great choice though! I think this one was my favorite, which really surprised me because I'm not a huge fan of chocolate cake. This one had a chocolate and coffee flavored cake with a very light coffee whipped cream frosting. The frosting was amazing and my mom and I both loved that it was light and not too sweet. Both the cake and the frosting were amazing on their own, but together - yum!
We had a great trip and were so excited to try a new cupcake place! We'll definitely go back the next time we go to San Francisco!

lucerne-tainly look marvelous

Along with Glitzerland, this is one of my new favorite colors. It's a dark shimmery silver, and to me it seems very mysterious, which I love! I was so excited to finally get Glitzerland and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous from the most recent OPI collection. In my order with these two I also got some other great colors: Dating a Royal, A Good Man-darin Is Hard to Find, What's with the Cattitude?, Dim Sum Plum, and Malaga Wine. I love them all and I'll post about them soon!

glitzerland

I'm definitely in love with this color. As soon as I saw it in the preview of the Swiss Collection, I knew that it would be one of my favorites. It's gold and glam but not over the top. I thought it might be too much for every day, but after wearing it for a few days, I think I can wear it whenever I want! That makes me really happy because the color is simply gorgeous. Both Glitzerland and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous are absolutely wonderful and I'm so happy to have them!
I'm moving to Glitzerland!

mary had a little lamb

I sang in a Christmas concert a while back and this young man was the accompanist. He was so extremely talented and I was so impressed! This is one of the songs he played at the concert. This isn't from the concert, but he arranged the song himself and it's wonderful! Enjoy!
