frosted flour

It's official. Lodi has it's very own cupcake shop. It's called Frosted Flour, and it's the newest addition to my "Cool Things about Lodi" list (the list isn't long..).
As soon as I heard about the shop, I knew I'd have to go in so my mom and I could do a taste test. The shop is cute, and the cupcakes are simple and adorable. They're cheap because they're a little small, but that's perfect for me! I'd rather sample a few than have one large cupcake! They had a pretty good selection from Rocky Road to Margarita, but my mom and I chose three fairly basic flavors.

Pink Lemonade Cupcake
Red Velvet Cupcake
Lodi Lemon Cupcake

The cupcakes were really sweet. My mom thought the Pink Lemonade and the Red Velvet were too sweet, but thought the Lodi Lemon was great. Since I have such a huge sweet tooth, I like the sweetness, but agreed that the Pink Lemonade could have been a little less sweet. I loved the look of the light pink frosting with sanding sugar on top, but I never really like the crunch that sanding sugar gives when you eat it. The red velvet was a great color red, and the cake had good consistency. The frosting was a little too sweet, but still good. The Lodi Lemon was my favorite (I always like lemon the best) and I only had one complaint about it. The cupcake was filled, and although the filling was in a perfect shape when you cut into the cupcake and had a great tang, I just don't like filling in my cakes or cupcakes. That's just a personal preference though. The frosting on the Lodi Lemon and the Pink Lemonade cupcakes was the same, and it was very light and tasty!
I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to go back again before next quarter, but I'll definitely be back during my next visit home!
